Technology Requirements |
- Make sure to watch this video from Episcopal's IT Department. Dorm Room Set-Up |
Here are some friendly reminders of FAQs for families as you plan the decorations and setup for your rooms in September:
- You may bring curtains and artwork. You should not bring tapestries, flags or wallpaper.
- Video monitors must have screen diagonals of 32” or less.
- As no metal fasteners may be driven into walls, ceilings, doors, or desks, be sure you can add decorations, headboards, storage, TVs, etc. without mounting anything using screws and bolts.
- Juniors and seniors may bring one refrigerator per room with a height off 36 inches or less.
- We suggest all students bring a personal flashlight and alarm clock.
- Only Episcopal students, their families and Dorm Room Movers may be used to move students into their campus rooms.
More information will be shared in the Residential Life section of the Student Handbook shortly. For new families, additional packing list suggestions and reminders are available on the Information for New Students page.

Summer Reading |
The English, Social Studies, MRC, and College Counseling Departments have compiled an interesting array of summer assignments for all students. To access them:
- Log onto the Parent Portal or Student Portal;
- Select the “Resources” tab;
- Click on the “2025 Summer Reading Assignments” tile;
- Download your student’s assigned summer reading materials.
Our All-School Summer Read
This summer the EHS community will read, A Dream Worth Fighting For, a biography by alumnus Tim Hightower '04.
Mr. Hightower is a proud family man, a former NFL football player, and current executive with the Washington Commanders. His biography is a thoughtful, insightful, and measured reflection about his lived experiences. Many of the questions he wrestles with (prioritization of sometimes conflicting goals, identity, working in a wide range of environments etc.) are questions raised by many students and faculty in the EHS community. This is an accessible and inspirational read.
Mr. Hightower will be providing the keynote talk on our first MRC Day of the fall, Monday September 15. Other accomplished EHS graduates will join us on that Monday as we think about our prioritized 2025-26 Portrait of a Graduate Quality — Commits to Ambitious Goals.

Sending Packages to Campus |
Back-to-School Packages
We will start accepting packages in the month of August for all students. Packages will be stored in the Goodman Squash Center and will be available for pickup beginning on registration day, Sunday, August 31, and throughout the week. Packages are not delivered to dorms.
All packages should be addressed to the student and include their class year. Please be sure to send all packages to: 1200 North Quaker Lane, Alexandria, Va. 22302.
During the School Year
All general mail and packages should be sent to 1200 North Quaker Lane, Alexandria, VA 22302
Packages sent to alternate EHS street addresses will not be delivered to Episcopal.
Please be aware that all packages are processed by the School’s post office before being made available to students, so automated delivery confirmations families receive will not necessarily align with when packages become available for pick-up.
Planning a birthday surprise?
Parents who wish to coordinate a birthday treat or gift for their child should contact their student’s advisor or dorm head in advance of the day to ensure timely, proper delivery. This important communication will help avoid lost/misplaced/misdelivered birthday surprises.

Support of Sustainability Initiatives |
We are excited to continue our efforts to make our community more sustainable. As you are preparing to return to campus, here are a few items that your student can bring in support of our sustainability initiatives:
- Reusable bags for trips to the store (Alexandria city charges a tax for using plastic bags at the grocery register.)
- Reusable water bottles (There are filtered water stations on each dorm and throughout campus — our hope is that we can avoid using single-use plastic water bottles as much as possible.)
- Microwave-safe mug, bowl, and silverware

Sign Up for Dry Cleaning Services |
We will be working with Sterling Cleaners this year to provide dry cleaning services to students. If you are interested, sign up using this link.
Once a family signs up through Sterling Cleaners, the student will receive a laundry bag with their name and dorm. Pick up from each dorm will be on Mondays and delivery of the completed items will be on Thursdays.
This will be pay as you go service, so please do not select the monthly service or you will be charged a fee each month, whether you utilize the service or not.
Returning students should log into their account and update their dorm information.
New students please be sure to select YES to the Episcopal High School question during your initial signup process and indicate your dorm.
